According to Article 20-2 of the Teacher Education Act, for those who had completed their teacher training courses before the implementation of the act correction, their teacher qualification is subject to the prior regulations for 6 years before implementation of the new regulations (until July 31, 2009).
The relevant items of the previous regulations pertained to obtaining the first teacher certification, applying for another subject, and specifying the teaching subject and field specialty on the teacher certificate.
Student teachers who graduated before this act amendment on August 1, 2003, and took no action during the transition period of Article 20-2, must retake the preservice teacher education courses according to the corrected regulations of this act to obtain their teacher qualification. They must also complete the half-year teaching internship and teacher qualification examination.
